Can You Paint uPVC Cladding, Soffits & Fascias? (2026 Guide)

Yes — uPVC cladding, soffits and fascias can all be sprayed any colour and last 10–15 years. Honest guide to prep, colours, cost vs replacement.
Short answer: yes — and roofline + cladding is one of the cheapest exterior upgrades
uPVC cladding, soffits, fascias and bargeboards can all be sprayed — and because they're high up and out of arm's reach, a professional spray finish on the roofline transforms how the whole property looks from the street.
DIY ladder-and-brush attempts almost always show drips, missed lap joints and brush marks within a season. Professional spraying delivers a factory-smooth finish that lasts 10–15 years with a written guarantee, and dovetails with our conservatory and window & door services for a fully matched exterior.
What 'cladding' covers — and what we spray
Vertical cladding — shiplap, weatherboard, vertical or horizontal uPVC boards on gable ends, dormers and feature walls.
Soffits — the horizontal underside of the roof overhang.
Fascias — the vertical board the gutters fix into.
Bargeboards — the angled boards on gable ends following the roof line.
Guttering and downpipes — the same 2K coating sticks beautifully to uPVC rainwater goods, perfect for matching everything to the new fascia colour.
Porch and dormer cladding — small but high-impact surfaces that finish the look.
Most popular cladding & fascia colours in 2026
Anthracite grey (RAL 7016) — by far the most-requested colour, especially paired with anthracite windows.
Jet black (RAL 9005) — sharp, contemporary, brilliant on white render or pale brick.
Slate / graphite greys — softer alternatives that read 'modern' without going fully dark.
Cream and off-whites — perfect for cottages and traditional properties where original cream was the spec.
Heritage greens — sage, chartwell and Hague-style greens for character properties.
Roofline, cladding and rainwater goods are typically sprayed in the same colour for a clean, joined-up look.
How is high-level uPVC sprayed safely?
Roofline work is access-led. Most jobs are completed from a mobile tower or cherry picker, with surrounding render, brick and glazing fully masked. Large or awkward properties may need scaffolding for a day.
Prep: every board is degreased with panel-wipe, lightly abraded and primed with a uPVC adhesion promoter — the same process as ground-level frames.
Application: two to three coats of 2K polyurethane in your chosen colour and sheen. Sprayed, not brushed — so no lap marks, drips or visible joins.
Time on site: a typical 3-bed semi roofline is 1–2 days. A larger detached property with cladding panels is 2–3 days.
How long does sprayed cladding last?
Roofline and cladding spraying carries the same 10-year written guarantee as our window and conservatory work, and real-world life expectancy is 10–15 years before any noticeable fade. Full deep-dive: how long does uPVC spraying last?
Because cladding doesn't get touched the way doors and windows do, the finish often outlasts the lower-level frames on the same property.
Cost vs replacing the roofline
Spraying a typical 3-bed semi roofline (fascias, soffits, guttering): £600–£1,100 fully finished.
Replacing the same roofline in new uPVC: £2,500–£5,000+ supplied and fitted.
Spraying cladding panels on a gable end or dormer: £250–£600 depending on access.
Spraying is roughly 70–80% cheaper than replacement, with no roof tiles to lift, no plastic waste to landfill and no scaffold-tower bill for a week. Full pricing here: how much does uPVC spraying cost?.
Frequently asked questions
Can you spray cladding without removing the gutters? Yes. We mask gutters and downpipes, or spray them in the same colour so the whole roofline ties together.
What about wooden cladding? Yes — timber needs a different primer system, but the same 2K top-coat applies. Tell us at quote stage.
Can you spray cement-board cladding (HardiePlank, etc.)? Yes, with the appropriate alkali-resistant primer.
Will it stop the cladding going yellow again? Yes. UV degradation happens to bare uPVC, not to the new 2K top-coat — that's pigmented through and UV-stable.
Is it guaranteed? Every cladding and roofline job carries a written 10-year guarantee. See real customer projects on our reviews page.
